I recently got a tiny Chihuahua puppy that I plan to take everywhere with me. I have ordered and returned at least eight different bags of various styles and this is the one I chose to keep for these reasons. Because my dog is so small a sling or backpack carrier does not work because he gets jostled around too much. With this one I like the option that I can put it over my shoulder like a purse or I can also carry it with my hand hanging down by my leg or on my arm and keep it from bouncing against my body. It came with a cute little fleece bed and collapsible bowl, both of which I will use. I really like the lock on the zippers to keep them closed, the leash to attach the dog to the inside of the bag and the hard section velcroed to the top of the bag that keeps it from collapsing in up at the top. Initially, when I received the bag, the weather was warm and I almost didn’t keep the bag because I thought it didn’t have enough ventilation. But I ended up purchasing a second bag that’s all mesh and I plan to keep them both and alternate between which one is most appropriate given the weather and the circumstances. Now that the weather is cooling down, I do like that I can completely close up this bag, I am realizing there will be circumstances like inside of restaurants, on airplanes, etc., where it will be nice to either keep him concealed or keep things quiet and dark for him. Out of all the bags I tried, this one had the best handles because of the shape and length, they have enough of a drop to be functional, but not too much. Their rigidness makes them also easier to use and the small Velcro section at the top to keep the handles closed or to allow them to open is also nicer than any of the other bags I tried. The bag has pockets however you really only can fit flat items in the pockets which led me to look for additional bags with more and bigger pockets so I can take things that I need like a wallet, etc., or things that the dog would need such as food and toys, however, those bags just weren’t as good as this bag in regards to all of the other features, so I decided to forgo looking for one bag to do everything and use this bag, which is best suited for the dog and just carry along my purse. As I have been using it, the only criticisms that I have are that if I wanted the screen top to be open, there’s no way to roll that up and Velcro it aside and when I roll up and Velcro the very top section the elastic strap is almost not long enough to hold it unless I roll it very small in which case I am bending the leather-like piece and denting which I’m trying not to do. I wish that the bottom also had metal feet because I do find myself wanting to sit the carrier on the ground at times. The only other thing I don’t care for is the light colored interior, I generally go with black because it’s easy to keep looking clean. I don’t do so well with white or light colors. I don’t know if there is a reason the interior is white, perhaps it keeps the bag cooler, I’m not sure, but it does seem that that satin finish will be easy to clean and I really do like the fleece dog bed, it’s a nice touch and it fits perfectly in the bag, my puppy likes it. To try to keep things clean I also put a little baby receiving blanket in there for him to cuddle up with. For reference my purse in the picture is a small size purse and my puppy is only 2 1/2 pounds In the picture. He does chew the mesh screen, his little teeth go through the mesh holes and his little nails get caught on the screen, but the bag has not sustained any damage.
