Bought for my puppy whelping box for my new bougie puppy room. It's in the basement and I wanted to be sure they would stay warm. Even in my old house and old puppy room I had a small heater I set inside the box, and this is soooo much safer. I DO still have a small heater pointed into the box, but only because the upper part of the house is getting heat from the sun in the windows right now so the furnace isn't kicking on and heating the basement. This is very cushy, very similar to my box pads I have inside my box. Would be nice on it's own as a thin bed. I would hands down suggest THIS over a space heater as many do for older pets. PLUS it can switch to 24hr mode, so it never turns off . . . unlike our human heating pads which will time out after 2 hrs. Pricewise it's awesome. I was expecting $50 for something like this. It probably STILL uses $50 worth of electric each month, but it's still a safer option. I did NOT measure the size. I know often with these Chinese items they are SMALLER than stated. It appeared to be half the size of my 4ft by 4ft whelping pen, which was perfect for me (one side stays cool if mama gets too warm). My dogs are Frenchton bulldogs (Zan's Frenchtons), a Frenchton is 75% Frenchie and 25% Boston, they run 25-33lbs. I could probably squeeze two onto this pad comfortably. I'd share a photo but the pad is buried under my whelping pads for her upcoming birth any day!
